The biannual conference has been hosted in turn by the University of Leipzig and University of Potsdam since 1995.
In 2011, the Slavic department of the University of Göttingen hosted the conference for the first time.
In alternation with the regular conference, 'half-time' conferences were held in Nova Gorica (2006), Moscow (2008), and Brno (2010).
