Research Interests
My interest has focused on the implementation of geospatial technologies and modelling approaches, to address biogeographical and environmental questions. GIS and Remote sensing data are essential tools I have used for modelling the spatio-temporal distribution of forests and specific plant species, and
for monitoring vegetation characteristics and structure. I am currently working on the project "Spatial and Temporal Scaling of Biodiversity and Environment". We aim to develop novel methods to quantify environmental heterogeneity and functional diversity across spatial and temporal scales
implementing GIS, spatial analysis and global environmental data. We use for this purpose oceanic islands as natural laboratories for elucidating
evolution and biodiversity patterns.
