Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lück (Bonn) Classifying spaces for families and the Farrell-Jones Conjecture
The notion of a classifying space for families was introduced by tom Dieck and plays a prominent role in various areas in mathematics.
We will give the basic notion, elementary properties and discuss nice models, which come from and are relevant for questions in algebra, geometry, groups theory and topology. Then we will discuss their appearance in the Farrell-Jones Conjecture and present the status and applications of the Farrell-Jones Conjecture.

Prof. Dr. Holger Reich (Berlin) Topological cyclic homology
The talk will give an introduction to topological cyclic homology, a quite sophisticated invariant of rings and ring spectra. The construction of topological cyclic homology makes heavy use of equivariant stable homotopy theory, one of the many fields, where tom Dieck made essential contributions.
