Dr. Roman Siebertz
Roman Siebertz has received his Ph. D. in Iranian studies at Bamberg University (Germany) in 2003 and subsequently was awarded with a research scholarship by the Gerda-von-Henkel-Stiftung until 2006. Hereinafter, he has acted as a senior lecturer and visiting professor in Middle Eastern studies at Bonn University and Hamburg University. From 2016 until 2019 he has been in charge of a research project on the cultural and economic relations between Iran and Germany from 1919 until 1945 at the Institute for Middle Eastern and Oriental studies at Bonn University. During the winter semester 2024/25 he acts a lecturer at the Iranian studies department at Göttingen University.
His fields of activity include the political and social history of Iran from the Safavid period to the present, the origins and development of modern media in the Middle East, and the interaction of the Persian world with Europe since the early modern period.
