Film "Fandry"

Art House Cinema Lumière (Geismarlandstr. 19) and CeMIS screened the award winning feature film "Fandry" (2013). The film by Nagraj Manjule will be shown on Wednesday, 16 July 2014 at 8:00 pm. The film looks at the caste system and the social tensions that come along with it, especially in rural India. It tells the story of a young love: Jabya is from a lower caste and falls in love with a high-caste classmate. Both their parents and their peers would not tolerate a relationship, though. Director Nagraj Manjule was present at Lumière on that evening for a discussion.
