By number of students, the Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki is one of the largest theological faculties in Europe. It offers high-level research and teaching in Theology and Religion, in order to prepare students for duties requiring competent knowlegde in the topics of religions and worldviews. The Faculty provides this expertise through strong historical and present awareness and uses it in close cooperation with key employers and partners for various social sectors. Research and teaching include the fields of historical theology, global religion, as well as religion and society. The Faculty considers itself as an international academic community and doesn´t affiliate with any specific religion.

The School of Theology at the University of Eastern Finland studies the roots of the Christian religion and examines current religious, spiritual and ideological phenomena. Its research gives religion a voice in current debates of society. Furthermore, the School of Theology enables interaction between Western and Orthodox theology, and covers themes such as mental and spiritual wellbeing. Academic subjects are Biblical Studies, Church History, Systematic Theology, and Practical Theology, as well as Comparative Religion (which studies all religious traditions), Church Music (which examines the music of the Orthodox Religion) and Religious Education.

The mission of the Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology at Åbo Akademi in Turku is to give its students understanding of languages, culture, religion and human behavior, which gives them tools for communication, critical thinking and dealing with the conditions of life. The Faculty therefore focuses on the multifaceted world of mankind.
The Faculty offers five study programmes: Culture, History and Philosophy, Languages, Logopedics, Psychology and Theology. Education and research are characterized by various subject combinations and international contacts.
