Family-friendly Infrastructure
The university provides a broad range of family-friendly infrastructure and aims to extent all offers to improve the compatibility of science careers/ studies/ work and private (family) life.
The Campus Accessibility Map offers an overall view where to find facilities to change your baby's diaper, moveable boxes of toys, parent-child-rooms and playgrounds at the university. You can install an app onto your smartphone, to use the map on the go.
The faculties and associated institutions are providing the parent-child-rooms. These are generally equipped with a computer, internet access, a desk plus office chair, furniture for children, toys, children’s books, drawing utensils, a nappy-changing table and a couch. To bypass a shortage of childcare or to claim some time of silence and to breastfeed, you may use these parent-child-rooms.
The Göttingen State and University Library offers working spaces for parents who study. There are parent-child-rooms in the SUB and the Learning and Study Building (LSG) – also with facilities to change your baby’s nappy and toys to play with -, that you can book easily via the E-Campussystem.
In every canteen, the Studentenwerk provides dining areas with adjoined areas to play in. (Students can use the MensaKidscard to get a free lunch for their children.)
If you are a faculty or an associated institution, that is planning on providing parent-child-rooms or that is already providing one, which isn’t included in our listings, please contact the FamilienService.
