Dr. Sybil Wong

With hands-on experience in growing and managing product, tech, editorial, marketing, PR and commercial teams, Sybil oversees daily operations at Sparrho, and works closely with the CEO to develop and execute business strategies.

Sybil has been an integral part of the Sparrho team from 2015 and has worked in all areas of the business, equipping her with a unique insight to manage daily operations and provide support to commercial and partnership discussions.

Prior to joining Sparrho, Sybil was SVP Business Development & Director of OneStart, the world’s largest biotech and healthcare startup accelerator, at the Oxbridge Biotech Roundtable. Through OneStart, Sybil supported 70 budding biotech and healthcare startups from across Europe, North America and Asia, and managed partnerships with top pharmaceutical and venture firms, including SR One, GSK, Roche, Johnson & Johnson, Takeda Ventures, Bristol-Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca and MedImmune.

Sybil obtained a BSc in Biochemistry and Economics from the University of Hong Kong. During her PhD research in Biochemistry at the University of Nottingham and the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, she investigated the participation of tumour suppressor protein LIMD1 in the microRNA-mediated gene silencing pathway on a molecular level. Her work contributed to a better understanding of how the hypoxia pathway and the assembly of the canonical microRNA-induced silencing complex (miRISC) are regulated by LIMD1 and its family members.
