Computational Physics describes the application of numerical methods in subdisciplines of physics, where the algorithms are often adapted or developed specifically for physical problems.
The goals of the specialization are, on the one hand, an introduction to the fundamentals and working methods of experimental and theoretical physics and, on the other hand, an in-depth study of a physics subject in preparation for a bachelor's thesis.
In the Faculty of Physics, for instance, these subfields are represented: Solid State and Materials Physics, Physics of Complex Systems, (Theoretical) Biophysics, Theory of Soft Matter, Statistical Physics, High Energy and Particle Physics, Astrophysics or Geophysics.

Business Information Systems
Note: In the Bachelor-Master program in Applied Computer Science with a major in Business Information Systems, the computer science component is weighted somewhat more heavily than the business science component. For students who prefer a stronger emphasis on economics, there is a separate course of study at the Institute of Information Systems.
