Film "Midnight’s Children"

Art House Cinema Lumiere (Geismarlandstr. 19) screened "Midnight’s Children" by Deepa Mehta on Sunday, 3 Nov 2013 at 7:30 pm. The film is based on a novel by Salman Rushdie which was published in 1980. It tells the story of Saleem Sinai who was born on the day of India's independence in 1947. It is an engaging history of independent India, and pays particular attention to the ongoing and violent conflict between Pakistan and India. The event was organized by Lumiere in co-operation with CeMIS and the "Göttingen Indian Culture Days 2013." After the film, there was a reception with Indian snacks in the lobby of the cinema.
