Research Interests
Currently, I am preparing my PhD Thesis to study the trait space assembly of the flora of the Canary Islands. I am interested in seeing how different concepts of island biogeography, traditionally developed for biodiversity at the taxonomic level, translate to a functional perspective on island biodiversity. This will hopefully contribute to the development of the emerging field of functional island biogeography.
I am also interested in the abiotic factors determining plant distribution from a taxonomic and functional perspective in combination with bioclimatology and have studied the variation in leaf trait expression of Fagus sylvatica at a regional scale in the Black Forest by sampling traits along a climatic gradient.

2016 – 2020: Bachelor of Science Biology, University of Freiburg, Germany. Thesis title: “Analysis of flower response to pollinator sounds by two species of the genus Oenothera”. Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Michael Scherer-Lorenzen.
