DAAD Prize for outstanding academic achievements and intercultural commitment of international students
What is the DAAD Prize?
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) awards funds to universities each year as part of the DAAD Prize for outstanding academic achievements by international students. The award also includes prize money of €1,000 and can only be won by individual students. Candidates already studying at the University of Göttingen wanting to apply for the prize must fulfil the following criteria:
- enrolled on a standard course at Göttingen University (guest or exchange studies not eligible)
- above-average academic achievements
- exemplary unpaid social commitment, in particular on an intercultural basis and preferably in Göttingen, at the University
- non-German nationality
- obtained the secondary school leaving certificate abroad
- currently in an advanced stage of their studies, i.e. at least in the second year of study within an undergraduate study programme/doctorate, or in the second semester of a master's programme, and still due to be enrolled until the end of December 2024
Application
Are you a suitable candidate? The application form is available until 15 October 2024. Please send your complete application (application form, letter of motivation, transcript of records, letter of reference for the DAAD Prize from a supervisor or academic advisor, proofs of commitment) no later than by 15 October 2024 to international.study@uni-goettingen.de (date of receipt).
Selection
The selection commission will examine applications first and select the most promising candidates. The commission, chaired by the Vice-President for Equal Opportunities, Diversity and Internationalization, is furthermore composed of representatives of the International Office. The winner will be announced in one of the University’s news releases.
In 2023, the prize was awarded to Ostap Krynytskyy, from Ukraine. Ostap is in his second semester studying "Molecular Life Sciences: Microbiology, Biotechnology and Biochemistry". The jury recognized his excellent academic achievements and his commitment to the integration of integration of Ukrainian refugees.
