Studies: Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration and Law at Bielefeld University (Diploma in Psychology in 1985).
1985 -1988: Research assistant in the Collaborative Research Centre 227 "Prevention and Intervention with Children and Youth" of Bielefeld University (completion of PhD in 1988).
1989 - 1999: Academic councillor / senior academic councillor at the Institute for Psychology of Erlangen-Nürnberg University (habilitation in 1994).
1994-1997: Stand-in professor for Psychology (C3) for Business Education at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of Erlangen-Nürnberg University.
2000-2015: Professor for Develompmental Psychology, Educational Psychology and Legal Psychology at the Institute of Psychology at CAU Kiel.
2006: Certification as a specialist in Legal Psychology BDP/DGPs.
Since 2015: Director of the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony (KFN) in Hanover.
