Evaluation Concept of Regional Sustainability Under Consideration of Uncertainty and Conflicts of Objectives
Brief Description
On the occasion of the current discussion concerning sustainability in politics and society, it is necessary to review in how far the aspect of sustainability actually influences political decisions and their practical implementation, including on the regional level. In this context, local Agenda-21 processes form the elementary instrument for the aid of sustainable development on the regional level. with this focus on sustainable regional development, the question arises: When can it be said of an effective support program of a region that it is sustainable? In this context, the special problem of objective conflicts between different dimensions (social, economic and ecological) as well as individual objectives concerning sustainability are in the foreground. The primary goal of the dissertation is the determination of a scale of regional sustainability, which can be used for the assessment of existing and the evaluation of future regional measures for the support of sustainable development. Existing objective conflicts, uncertainties in manifestations and possible combinations of the fields of agency and pillars of sustainability will be taken into account with the help of an apt method of analysis.
