SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

To me, science is about asking questions. My goal is to get familiar with a broad selection of different methods in the neurosciences, enabling me to find answers in varying contexts. Coming from the cellular neurosciences, I want to learn about approaches from cognitive and computational neuroscience. Specifically, I am interested in how insights from the cellular level can be incorporated into models of neural circuit function. Put differently, how does a single neuron process information and how does that serve the circuit-level computation? Currently, I am captivated by the sensory systems, especially the auditory system with its extensive subcortical processing. Method-wise, I am fascinated by patch-clamp electrophysiology, and want to continue utilizing it.
