Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions: Postdoctoral Fellowship

Duration
European Fellowships have a duration of 12 to 24 months. The researcher can spend 1/3 of the duration on secondments at other institutions for research and training purposes.

Optionally, the fellowship can be extended for a maximum of 6 month by a non-academic placement at a non-academic institution with an EU member state or country associated to the Horizon Programmme. The placement, however, must be part of the initial proposal and cannot be requested ex-post.

What is funded?
The researcher receives from the University of Göttingen a full-time employment contract for the duration of the fellowship. The salary (researcher costs) is comprised of the living allowance, mobility allowance and, if applicable, the family allowance according to the rates of the relevant call. Besides the researcher costs, the university receives a monthly lump sum (institutional costs) to cover costs related to research and training/networking activities, as well as management and indirect costs.

Who can apply?
To be eligible to apply for a European Fellowship with the University of Göttingen, researchers…

• may be of any nationality,
• must be in possession of a doctoral degree or have successfully defended their doctoral thesis before call deadline,
• may not have more than 8 years of research experience (full-time equivalent), counted from date of award of the (first) doctoral degree,
• must comply with the mobility rule meaning reseachers may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Germany for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately prior to the call deadline,
• must have agreed with a professor from the University of Göttingen to act as their supervisor during the fellowship.

Duration
Global Fellowships have a duration of 24 to 36 months, split into an outgoing-phase of 12 to 24 months to a host institution (outgoing host) in a non-European and non-associated country and a mandatory return phase of 12 months at the University of Göttingen. The researcher can spend 1/3 of outgoing phase on secondments at other institutions for research and training purposes.

• must be EITHER a national of an EU member state or a country associated with the Horizon Europe programme, OR a long-term resident with a minimum of 5 years of continuous residency within the EU or an associated country.
• must be in possession of a doctoral degree or have successfully defended their doctoral thesis before call deadline,
• may not have more than 8 years of research experience (full-time equivalent), counted from date of award of the (first) doctoral degree,
• must comply with the mobility rule meaning researchers may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the outgoing host for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately prior to the call deadline,
• must have agreed with a professor from the University of Göttingen and from the outgoing host to act as supervisors during the fellowship.
