Target Group
The main target group of GOMIL is junior researchers, lawyers and judges wishing to specialize in the area of international law beyond the scope usually covered in undergraduate legal studies. Additionally, the program is open to graduates of other related disciplines, e.g. international relations or political science. As a result, program participants can benefit from exchanging opinions, engaging in group projects and other forms of cooperation with classmates from other fields, which helps them to better understand different angles and perspectives of the topics they study.
Besides the variety of academic and professional backgrounds, we also strive to achieve diverse geographic representation in the selection of each year's program participants. Such diversity enriches classroom discussions and collaborative activities by ensuring the exchange and application of ideas and approaches from various legal systems and cultural environments.
Career Paths
A degree from the GOMIL program opens a wide range of professional opportunities in both the public and private sectors. By combining theoretical foundations with practical case studies, the program prepares graduates to navigate the complexities of global legal standards.

GOMIL graduates are exceptionally prepared for high-level careers within intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, and national governments. By combining legal expertise with a global perspective, you can serve as a legal advisor for bodies like the UN or OECD, or champion causes with NGOs such as Amnesty International. The program provides the necessary foundation to navigate specialized legal fields, including human rights advocacy, environmental protection, refugee support, and trade relations. Additionally, it serves as a strategic bridge to the public sector, equipping you to work as a diplomat or advise national ministries on the implementation of international treaties and complex legal frameworks.

For those aiming for the private sector, GOMIL provides a competitive edge in the global legal market. You may work as an associate in international law firms specializing in international commercial arbitration, trade disputes, or cross-border transactions. Alternatively, as in-house counsel, you could advise multinational corporations on international compliance, regulatory standards, and investment law. Through small group sizes and direct mentorship from practicing experts from top law firms, the program bridges the gap between academic excellence and real-world career success.

As a GOMIL graduate, you will have developed a strong foundation for scholarly excellence and are well-equipped to follow an academic career path. Thanks to the program's rigorous academic focus and dedicated thesis supervision, you are prepared to pursue a PhD. This provides a solid basis for future roles as researchers or lecturers at universities and international research centers. The GOMIL program fosters scholarly growth through a structured research colloquium, featuring multiple feedback sessions designed to refine your academic voice. This continuous mentorship ensures your master's thesis reaches the highest standards.
