Programme Coordination for the Two-subject Bachelor's and Bachelor's Degree Programmes
In the course of the Bologna process, which aims to introduce a common European Higher Education Area (Europäischer Hochschulraum – EHR) with comparable degree programmes, learning outcomes and structures, the modularised Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes were introduced at the Faculty of Humanities of the Georg-August University of Göttingen in the winter semester 2006/2007.
Currently, 45 subjects from 10 faculties, 35 of them from the Faculty of Humanities, are involved in the largest degree programme at the university, the two-subject Bachelor’s programme. Since the Faculty of Humanities registers the most students in the programme, it is in charge of coordinating the programme.
This merging of the organisation takes into account the great complexity of the study structure, which provides for the free combination of two equal subjects, and the special challenges in realising it. In this context, the programme coordination acts as an interface between the students, the subjects and the faculty committees on the one hand and the central committees and institutions on the other.
Core responsibilities:
- Advising on course collisions (overlapping) of compulsory courses
- Revision of the regulations for the two-subject Bachelor’s programme
- Revision of the regulations for the Bachelor’s degree programme
- Digital module directory
- Coordination of the faculty’s non-subject related modules for key competences
- Accreditation and re-accreditation – quality management
- Internationalisation of the study programme
