Prof. Dr. Barbara Ischinger
Professor Barbara Ischinger headed the OECD Directorate for Education and Skills in Paris from January 2006 to the end of March 2014. This Directorate supports Member States in improving the quality, equality and efficiency of their education systems. Previously, she had held a number of senior positions in the sectors of international cooperation and education, mainly in Europe, the United States and Africa: From 2000 to 2005, she was Vice President of International and Public Relations at the Humboldt University of Berlin. From 1994 to 2000, she was Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States and Germany and, from 1992 to 1994, she was a Director at UNESCO, running the Division of International Cultural Cooperation, Presentation and Enrichment of Cultural Identities.
Professor Ischinger is a member of the Strategic Committee of Geneva University, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Herrhausen Society and the Foundation Council of the Berlin Natural History Museum.
