Simple tests (in Stud.IP)

Brief description

The tutors create tests in Stud.IP at regular intervals.

A Stud.IP test consists of a question on a course-related topic and a choice of one or more correct answers. After responding, the students can see the right answer if the tutor wants them to.

Objectives

  • Discovering and resolving potential gaps in knowledge
  • Obtaining feedback on the content of face-to-face meetings
  • Discovering students’ prior level of knowledge

Realisation (Tools)

Create questions using “Surveys and Tests”. Unlike the surveys, with tests you can set one or more correct answers.

Procedure

Under “Tools” -> “Surveys and Tests” create a new test for the course. Only one question with multiple or single correct answers is possible; you can set the start and end time. The test is set up so that after responding participants can see the right answer. This gives students an understanding of their level of knowledge so that they can fill gaps in their knowledge.

We recommend that the test is not anonymised. This can prevent arbitrary guessing of answers. In addition it gives the tutors information about their students’ progress.

Alternative methods:

Ilias tests can be used to compile complex tests with several questions; there are also several types of question available.

Documentation

Unfortunately the test tool does not have an export option, however the results can be viewed at any time. To create a copy of the results, go to the display of results then mark, copy and paste the relevant section of the Stud.IP page.
