Change of subject or change of university - What makes the difference?

Change of subject - you would like to get into a study programme's higher semester and fulfill one of the following qualifications:

You are studying the respective subject/ programme at a university abroad.
You are studying a programme at another German university, which is similar but not identical to the one offered in Göttingen.

Change of university is relevant for students who are looking to change into the identical study programme at Göttingen University they are currently studying at another German university (you can only apply for a higher semester).

Responsible contact for the application and admission process is the Office of Student Affairs (application process). To apply for a higher semester you need a written approval (Certificate of Transferable Credits) from the Faculty of Business and Economics. It confirms that credits from your previous programme can be transferred to the new study programme.

To get this approval please contact us early enough before the application deadline's end-date.

Please send us your current Transcript of Records including all examination attempts (also failed attempts) per E-Mail as well as a list of all courses that you plan to complete in the ongoing semester (course titles and credits). Furthermore we need a certification that you still have the right to take examinations (Prüfungsanspruch besteht). If the Transcript of Records has no appropriate note we need a separate Certificate of Good Standing (Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigung) from your previous university.

For your application into a higher semester you do not need an approval (Certificate of Transferable Credits) from the Faculty of Economic Sciences. You have to apply for the next higher semester.

Please note:

If you have lost the right to take examinations in an identical or functional similar study programme you are not allowed to continue your studies at the Faculty of Business and Economics (General Examination Regulations § 16b).
