Denise van Rossum
Senior Scientist, R&D Diagnostic Membranes at Sartorius, Göttingen
Denise van Rossum completed her BSc in Biochemistry followed by a PhD in (neuro) Pharmacology at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Thereafter, she held various research positions in different institutes including Max-Planck-Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt am Main, MDC for Molecular Medicine in Berlin and UMG in Göttingen. Her research work is published in 40 scientific publications and resulted in over 2000 citations.
Before pursuing her graduate studies, Denise acquired industrial experience in the R&D department at an international pharmaceutical company namely, Merck-Frosst. Moreover, after giving birth to her first daughter, she gained experience in administrative tasks by joining the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies. The diversity of her experiences proved to be an asset for the position that she is currently filling at Sartorius where she has joined the R&D group for Diagnostic Membranes almost 7 years ago by now. This position is not only restricted to R&D responsibilities such as product development but also includes direct customer support and marketing strategies for the various products.
Due to the constant expansion of Sartorius world-wide, on-site support for projects within USA, Europe and Asia is also an active facet of her tasks. Finally, acting as a senior scientist in the industry includes representation at international congresses to strengthen Sartorius technical expertise exposure. Sartorius is currently the world leader in nitrocellulose substrate for protein-based immunoassays like the one incorporated in lateral flow immunoassays.
