MIDA funding extended for another three years
In July, Prof. Ravi Ahuja, as the Principal Investigator of MIDA (Modern India in German Archives, 1706-1989) in Göttingen was informed by the DFG that they have agreed to fund the second 3-year phase of the long term-research project. From 1 November 2017, our colleagues in Berlin and we at CeMIS will be able to continue with our work focusing on the holdings of German archives pertinent to modern Indian history as well as the exchange between India and Germany in the realms of politics, history of missions, social and economic history as well as intellectual encounters in the widest sense. The first round of research monographs in political history (Berlin) as well as intellectual history (Göttingen) will be published, and beginning from 1 November 2018, a further tandem of researchers will work on political history in Berlin, whereas in Göttingen, the focus of the second tandem will be on social and economic history, all of them cataloguing the pertinent archival holdings for the project database, the first version of which will be available online at the end of next year - Martin Christof-Fuechsle
