Traineeship for Outgoing Students - Erasmus+ (KA131)
You want to gain practical international experience, insights into work processes and improve your language skills? A traineeship abroad is a great opportunity to develop personally, and professionally and basically improve your chances on the job market. The University of Göttingen supports students who want to do a traineeship in an Erasmus+ programme country.
First clarify the following questions for yourself:
- Is it a voluntary or a compulsory internship abroad?
- Is my project supported by my faculty/seminar?
- Do I have at least 60 days for an internship abroad? And when is a suitable period?
- When do I want to do an internship: during my studies or after I have exmatriculated?
Your contact person for the recognition of work placements or your Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator in the faculty/seminar will be happy to answer these questions. Teacher training students can also obtain information from the Office of the Dean of Teacher Education.
Industry - Company - Experience and knowledge:
- In which industry/area of work do I want to gain experience?
- Which additional experiences and skills are important for an internship abroad? What should I learn in advance?
- What should I consider for a successful application in my target country?
- Which company or organisation can offer me an eligible internship?

The availability of funds is fundamentally dependent on the project funds (third-party funds) as well as
- the number of successful applications,
- the destination countries (country categories) and the length of stay as well as
- the number of top up amounts granted (Social Top up, Green Travel).
Erasmus+ KA 131 Traineeship Funding: Call 2023
Only full months are supported. A full month corresponds to 30 days in the programme. Days that are not funded are zero grant days. The minimum funding period for an Erasmus+ traineeship is 2 months (60 days) and the maximum funding period is limited to a maximum of 10 months (300 days).
- The grant agreement contains the maximum funding amount for the period of stay from the first to the last working day. The basis for calculation is the planned period of stay. Only full months are funded (1 month = 30 days).
- If the host institution provides financial support and/or a contribution in kind of e.g. housing, food, and transportation of more than 1,200€/net per month, the entire stay will be supported as a zero grant mobility.
- If applied for in due time, a Social Top up will be granted. The social top up of 250 euros will be granted for the financially supported months. If more than one social top up is applicable, only one can be approved. The binding application must be submitted online within 5 working days of being requested. The form link will be sent by email. Late applications will not be accepted.
- If the outward and return journey is sustainable, a Top up for Green Travel can be applied for. The binding application must be submitted online within 5 working days of being requested. The form link will be sent by email. Late applications will not be accepted.

- the EU survey was carried out and the experience report (Erasmus+ KA 131 portal) was submitted online.
- Changes to the planned start or end date must be reported immediately to erasmus[at]@uni-goettingen.de.

The "Learning Agreement for Traineeships - Changes during the internship" (template see below) must be submitted with the form. To access the online form, please contact the Erasmus+ KA 131 team in good time. Notification of the extension by e-mail only will not be accepted. Participants must confirm that they have health insurance as well as accident and liability insurance at the workplace when signing the funding commitment. If the host institution does not offer insurance cover, this insurance must be taken out independently. In addition, accident and liability insurance for leisure time as well as health insurance abroad (incl. coverage of repatriation costs) are strongly recommended.
Students with statutory insurance who are planning a voluntary internship with pay should contact their health insurance provider early on.
It is recommended to take care of sufficient insurance cover at an early stage.
- Erasmus+ Key Action 131 beneficiaries must take part in a compulsory online language assessment. This so-called "Online Language Support" (OLS) offers Erasmus+ beneficiaries various possibilities: Self-assessment of language skills through language tests and participation in language courses in any number of languages.
- The assessment does not replace the language certificate to be submitted.
- After receiving an Erasmus+ Grant Agreement, Göttingen International or the EU Academy will inform you if you have to complete an online language assessment. Native speakers are exempt from the compulsory test.
- Participants of the calls 2022 and 2023 please note: The implementation of the new EU database eu|academy for the mandatory language assessment (so-called "OLS" - Online Language Support) is delayed. Against this background, Erasmus+ grantees will be exempted from the mandatory OLS assessment. However, we would welcome you to take the OLS assessment voluntarily. You will be notified by email as soon as the OLS function is fully ready. Independently of this, you are welcome to use the "eu|academy" on a voluntary basis. In addition to the virtual language tests and courses, self-study courses on other topics such as "migration & integration" or "cities, urban & regional development" are also offered.
