Modul B.WIWI-BWL.0071

Lecturer:

Teaching Assistant:

Target audience

Undergraduate students (specifically tailored for those studying Bachelor in Business Administration concentrating in Marketing and E-Business).

Enrollment capacity:

Strictly limited to a maximum of 24 students.

Examination:

Comprehensive seminar paper accompanied by a collaborative oral presentation (approx. 30 minutes).

Examination & Performance Requirements:
Students are required to conduct a rigorous, scientifically grounded written analysis of a specific, contemporary research question within the field of innovation management. The subsequent findings must be defended via a co-authored team presentation (approx. 30 minutes) executed in groups of three. Sustained, active participation and regular attendance are mandatory components of the evaluation.

Prerequisites:

None (no formal academic prerequisites required).

Recommended Preparation: Prior foundational knowledge from the following course is highly advantageous:

  • Modul B.WIWI-BWL.0005: Marketing

Seminar Structure and Logistics:

Attendance at the initial kickoff session is mandatory; due to strict capacity constraints, prior registration is required. To secure a seat, students must submit the online application form and concurrently enroll in the corresponding block-session module via the student portal (StudIP).
The seminar paper will be executed in three-member research cohorts. Topic assignment and team composition will be finalized by the Chair based on student topic preferences.

Content:

Following an intensive introductory module on the methodological foundations of synthesizing, critically reviewing, and structuring theoretical-conceptual academic literature, students will independently investigate selected contemporary paradigms in innovation management.

Research Themes in the Last Summer Semester:

  • Supply Chain Resilience via Strategic Innovation

  • Virtual Collaboration and Online Meetings

Throughout the independent formulation of the written thesis, the development of the team presentation, and the moderation of the subsequent plenary discussion, students will receive intensive, structured supervision and feedback from the research assistants.

A typical seminar paper at the Chair of Marketing and Innovation Management proceeds as follows:

Application, Assignment, Registration:

Both the application process and the allocation of seats for this seminar are administered via a centralized system. Detailed guidelines and administrative information can be accessed here. Once a seat has been formally assigned to you by the central system, you must submit a direct application to the Chair approximately in February / March 2027 (exact deadline to be announced soon), to register your specific seminar topic preferences. Following the official assignment of your research topic, formal registration for the course must be completed in the examination management portal (FlexNow) by a date to be determined (TBD).

Wichtige Information zur Themenliste:

The catalog of available seminar topics aligns with contemporary research paradigms; consequently, selected topics may be assigned to multiple research cohorts. The final allocation of topics rests exclusively within the purview of the Chair. While every
effort will be made to accommodate individual preferences, the Chair cannot guarantee assignment of top-tier choices in every individual instance.

Submission of a ranked preference list designating three target topics is mandatory and must be executed via the Chair’s official online portal. Failure to submit this ranked preference list within the designated timeframe will result in the immediate forfeiture of your allocated seminar seat at this Chair. To mitigate potential administrative discrepancies, students are strongly urged to retain the automated confirmation email generated upon the successful submission of the internal application form.
