FlexNow: Registration rules Biology

Note

  • Different registration procedures apply faculty-wise. The faculties of Informatics (X.Inf.000), Physics (X.Phy.000) and Agriculture (M.IPAD.000): Registration for courses only in StudIP; Registration for exams in Flexnow. See below the procedure for our faculty.
  • StudIP: In Faculty of Biology predominately used for communication between teaching stuff and students (e.g. file sharing). CoBi and DNB use a StudIP query for course pre-selection (see below). In other faculties: Often used for course registration (but not Exams!).

General rules at Faculty of Biology

  • You must be registered in FlexNow to take part in exams, seminars and practical courses.
  • Registration for exams and seminars/internships is decoupled and must be done separately according to different deadlines, see below.
  • You can find the registration periods for each module in the statistics portal FlexStat via query 218
  • Check every registration in FlexNow under "Exam results" to see whether the registration worked.
  • FlexNow sends an automatic reminder email to your student email address 72 hours before the last opportunity to unsubscribe.
  • Report errors in registrations in FlexNow and incorrect entries immediately to the examination office: bio.pruefung@biologie.uni-goettingen.de.

How to register for exams

  • Written examination

    • Register up to 7 days before the exam
      Example: Exam takes place on 14 July at 10 am, registration is possible until midnight on 7 July.
    • De-registration up to 24 hours before the exam
      Example: Exam takes place on 14 July at 10 am, de-registration is possible until 13 July at 9:59 am

  • Oral examination

    • Registration up to 7 days before, de-registration up to 5 days before exam:
      Example: Exam takes place on 14 July at 10 am. Registration is possible until midnight on 7 July, de-registration is possible until midnight 9 July.

  • Sick before/during exam

    If participation in an exam is not possible due to illness and it was not possible to deregister via FlexNow, the sick note must be submitted to the examination office within 3 days (uploading via the portal is sufficient to meet the deadline). Otherwise, the examination is considered “failed due to absence”.

    4. Deregistration and registration for vacant places (practical courses, seminars; first come, first served)

    5. Registration and deregistration for module exams (lectures, seminars, block courses; according to exam date and exam type)

    • winter term: start of lectures - deadline according to exam date and type (see FlexStat query 218)
    • summer term: start of lectures - deadline according to exam date and type (see FlexStat query 218)

  • M.Sc. Biodiversity: Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation (M.Biodiv.xxx)

    1. Registration and deregistration for participation in modules (practical courses, seminars; lottery procedure)

    • winter term: first half of October (details see OwnCloud)
    • summer term: mid-March (details see OwnCloud)

    2. Registration and deregistration for vacant places (practical courses, seminars; first come, first served; details see OwnCloud)

    • winter term: 19 Oct until 7 days before start of the course
    • summer term: 01 Apr until 7 days before start of the course

    3. Registration and deregistration for module exams (lectures, seminars, block courses; according to exam date and type)

Note:

  • Lottery takes place, if there are more registrations than places available in the course. Students who did not receive a place will be removed from the registration list by the Examination Office.
  • Different registration procedures apply faculty-wise. The faculties of Informatics (X.Inf.000), Physics (X.Phy.000) and Agriculture (M.IPAD.000): Registration for courses only in StudIP; Registration for exams in Flexnow.
  • If a course consists of a lecture only, registration is only needed in StudIP and for the exam in FlexNow.
