Charter of Diversity
The University of Göttingen signed the "Diversity Charter" on the nationwide Diversity Day 2015. The University is committed to creating a working environment that is free of prejudice. In the spirit of the Diversity Charter, it strives to value all members and affiliates of the University - regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity. It recognises that managers have a special obligation in this regard.
Diversity and equality were already anchored as important elements in the University's strategy before. By signing the Diversity Charter, the University shows that it is consistently pursuing its path towards an organisational culture based on mutual respect and appreciation for all. The signing is at the same time a call and a mandate to all members and affiliates to take on the diversity-friendly design of the University in an even more targeted manner.
To implement the Diversity Charter, the University has been participating in the annual nationwide Diversity Day with its own events since 2015. As an "engaged university", it has an impact beyond the boundaries of the University: since 2016, the University and the City of Göttingen have used Diversity Day for exchange and networking, thus highlighting their joint commitment to diversity-oriented structural and cultural change.
