SoG - Statistik ohne Grenzen (Barrierfree Statistics)
In today's digital world, an understanding of data usage and processing in general and especially in the context of artificial intelligence plays an essential role for everyone. Statistical knowledge is of fundamental importance for this. The project SoG therefore focuses on the creation of modular, self-contained, accessible digital teaching materials on the topic of ‘Statistics and Data Analysis’. Topics covered include data and data worlds, probabilities, statistical measures, statistical modelling and AI, and in accordance with the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, we proactively strive for accessibility in university teaching. Accessibility is therefore taken into account from the outset in the planning, design and organisation of teaching materials so that students with disabilities and chronic illnesses can also participate with equal opportunities. Materials such as educational videos and learning quizzes are created with accessibility in mind. Content is prepared in German and English spoken language with and without subtitles, with audio descriptions and in sign language. Descriptive transcripts are also available, breaking down the barriers inherent in the conventional communication of learning content. This leads to actual accessibility of the content for all students and thus improves the quality of teaching for students with and without health impairments.
