German Research Foundation’s Research-oriented Standards on Gender Equality
At the Annual General Meeting of the German Research Foundation in July 2008 a resolution was passed laying down research-oriented gender equality standards. Through this resolution the member universities of the DFG undertake to install staffing and structural measures that create and ensure equality for women and men. The University of Göttingen was thus called upon to prepare a statement placing requirements on the institution itself, in particular to raise the proportion of women at all levels of the academic career ladder.
An interim report on the universities’ implementation of their self-formulated commitments was submitted in 2011 and the final report on implementation and achievement of the objectives in 2013. Adherence to the research-oriented standards on gender equality is a decision-relevant criterion for the funding of collaborative research by the DFG.
