Information on Academic Work

When supervising seminar papers and theses, we attach great importance to striking a balance between support and autonomy in line with our supervision philosophy. This means that you can actively and independently shape your work, but also find a contact person at our department if your work process requires more intensive supervision. We prepare you for academic work with the following three building blocks:

At the kick-off event for the bachelor's and master's seminar, we will provide an overview of the content as well as specific tips on academic writing. This event will familiarize you with the process, preparation, and structure of an academic paper. You will learn about researching, compiling, and citing literature sources. You will receive tips on how to meet the requirements of academic writing.

Detailed information on formal requirements and tips on developing content and writing academic papers can be found here:

Individual support sessions ensure that we can assist you with specific questions regarding your seminar paper or thesis. This applies in particular to discussing the synopsis and outline of your paper, but also to other specific questions that arise during the writing process. In order to provide you with the best possible support, we expect you to make an appointment in good time and to prepare carefully for the meeting. Please send us the documents required for the appointment at least one day in advance.
