Information Regarding Assignment of Places
Registration for ZESS Courses on FlexNow:
Places for ZESS courses are assigned randomly. You can register for a ZESS course at any given time, as long as your registration falls within the specified registration phase, as stated by ZESS. The date and time of registration within this timeframe have no bearing on the handing out of places, as all submitted applications shall be considered.
Places are assigned at the end of each registration phase. The distribution is carried out individually for language and transferable skill courses (Allgemeine Schlüsselkompetenzen) and is purely coincidental, and thus unbiased.
Note: Applicants who register for more than one course shall be randomly placed in one of their chosen courses. While their other applications shall not be forfeited, these will be given less priority. It is therefore worth considering which course/s you would most wish to attend
A detailed description of the assignment of places can be found here.
Assignment of Places Based on Priority:
Highest Priority:
→ Applications from students who failed to receive a place in their chosen area of interest (language, transferable skills, ZESS-IT) during the previous round, despite increased priority
High Priority:
→ Applications from students who failed to receive a place in their chosen course (language, transferable skills, ZESS-IT) during the previous round. These applications are thus given increased priority in the next round (in the following semester), as long as said student does not participate in the distribution during the semester holidays.
Normal Priority:
→ Applications from students who both completed a ZESS course in the current or previous semester and sat for the final course examination.
a) Students who passed the examination may sign up for the next level of the same language course or sign up for another course altogether
b) Students who failed the examination may sign up for the same course or another course altogether
→ Applications from students who had registered for a ZESS course in the previous or current semester
→ Applications from students who were unable to complete a ZESS course due to health reasons and provided an M.C.
Lesser Priority::
→ Applications from students who had completed a ZESS course in the current or previous semester but did not sit for the final course examination
Least Priority::
→ Applications from students in the current or previous semester with irregular attendance, as well as applications from students who had registered for a course and failed to be present within the first hour of the very first lesson.
