Liability Insurance for Students
We highly recommend that students who do laboratory work at the Faculty get a special liability insurance.
This insurance covers damage to persons and property of up to 2,000,000 Euros, as well as financial loss of up to 12,500 Euros and loss of keys (except theft inside the building) of up to 15,000 Euros. Minimum claim: 50 Euros.
The insurance policy runs for one semester (1/4 – 30/9 or 1/10 – 31/3, respectively).
For students participating in degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Chemistry (Bachelor of Chemistry, Master of Chemistry, two-subject Bachelor of Chemistry, Master of Education with Chemistry as one of the subjects, Chemistry Diplom) the insurance fees are paid directly out of their tuition fees. The insured enter their name into a list which is in turn forwarded to the insurance company by the Dean’s Office. The Dean’s Office then transfers the money to the insurance company as a single payment.
This does not apply for students and doctoral students of other faculties.
In the event of damage or loss, incident report forms are available at the Dean’s Office. The matter is then settled directly with the insurance company.
