The Protestant Theological University (PThU) in Amsterdam and Groningen stands for a theology that is nourished by the University’s Protestant roots and is characterized by a love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It offers solid and relevant theological education and research regarding developments in faith, church and global Christianity. Its work is characterized by a strong connection to the Protestant Church of the Netherlands and a fascination for how faith affects the lives of people, which also includes the faith of its staff and students. With such high regard for personal faith, the PThU seeks to train people who can help others with existential life questions, such as: who am I, where do I come from and how do I lead a good life?
The PThUs mission is to inspire and to renew the Church, science and society by answering current and timeless questions through its nationally and internationally high qualified research. The PThU’s effort in doing research and education internationally is evidenced by the English-taught Master programme in Groningen, the invitation of foreign guest lecturers, the participation in international conferences and publication in relevant international peer-reviewed journals, as well as its close connection to partner institutions in Europe, North America, Africa and Asia

(Mindestsprachniveau: Englisch B2 )
The Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society at the University of Groningen welcomes everyone who is interested in research and teaching in the field of religion. Because religion is deeply rooted in different cultures and societes, the Faculty relies on research being done in cooperation between various disciplines. This approach leads to teaching and research at the Faculty revolving around the interaction between religion and different cultural and societal elements such as law, politics, science, art, philosophy, and economy. The Faculty therefore combines and implements theories and methods of the humanities, social sciences and even science and technology into its research.
The Faculty seeks to contribute to society through encouraging intellectual curiosity and the sharing of knowledge. Furthermore, the Faculty is an academic community in which students and staff are being encouraged and supported to develop their individual talents.
