The Computer Room of the Faculty of the Humanities
The room is located in KWZ. Equipped with 21 workstations, students have access to a wide range of software (Win10Pro) where they can write papers, research and print files. The room mainly targets students enrolled in one of the degree programmes of the Faculty of the Humanities, but other students as well as members of staff are likewise welcome.Usage possibilities
The room can also be booked for courses, especially focusing on multimedial and computer-based skills:- tutorials
- courses with a focus on multimedia
- courses on study related research and computer skills
- writing classes
- courses on Computer Linguistics, Data Processing, Office trainings, …
- and similar.
Users have access to a wide range of software which should fulfil most academic requirements. If necessary other software may be installed (please ask well in advance!).

- 11 workstations (Intel Core i3 3,30GHz Dual Core, 8GB RAM, SSD), operating on Windows 10 Professional
- projector (accessible through the instructor’s workstation or individual laptop)
- laser printer (b/w)
- blackboard and whiteboard
- scanner (colour, DIN A4)
- instructor’s workstation with access to projector
Software
- We must be informed about the desired software in time before the beginning of the courses, so that we can check an installation.
- Microsoft Office 2016 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, InfoPath, Outlook, Publisher)
- LibreOffice, LaTeX distribution, LaTeX editor (MiKTeX, TeXnicCenter)
- software for creating CDs and DVDs
- PDF converter and reader
- browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer
- multimedia viewers (image files, audio files, video files)
- Audacity and similar software for creating audio recordings
- Gimp and similar graphics software for pixel and vector graphics
- Xming (X server for Windows) and PuTTy
- Gephi
- ezvid
- We also check whether further software installations are possible

As long as the COVID-19 pandemic allows us, the Computer Room is open Monday to Thursday 12am to 5pm. Due to the current regulations we can only accept a limited number of students.
