On the normative foundations of diversity (2023 - 2026)
In this interdisciplinary research project, Andrea Dorothea Bührmann (University of Göttingen, Diversity Research Institute ) and Larissa Krainer (University of Klagenfurt, Institute for Media and Communication Studies) will investigate the question of which normative justifications for diversity are brought into the field that lead to diversity being understood as positive or negative. Methodologically, this is done through a discourse analysis of key texts on diversity research from the specialised academic discourse with reference to Foucault and Jäger. In theoretical terms, reflexive discourse analysis (Bührmann) and process ethics (Krainer) are brought together. The project, which is funded by the Research Council of the University of Klagenfurt, is to be carried out in the period from June 2023 to December 2026. The results will then be presented in various publications and at conferences.
