Prof. Dr. Susan Seeber presents report of the SWK



Prof. Dr. Susan Seeber, holder of the Chair of Business Education and Human Resource Development at the Faculty of Business and Economics, together with Theresa Schopper and Prof. Olaf Köller, recently presented at a press conference the new report of the Standing Scientific Commission of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (Ständige Wissenschaftliche Kommission der Kultusministerkonferenz / SWK) - 'Ensuring competencies for a successful transition from lower secondary level to vocational education and training'.



With this report, the SWK is taking the next step towards making scientifically based recommendations for the further development of the different levels of education in Germany. The report on the lower secondary level is dedicated to the subjects of German and mathematics, science and English; interdisciplinary competences in the areas of digital competence, self-regulated learning and identity development as well as vocational orientation and goes into detail on the transition sector.



It identifies the technical and cross-curricular skills needed at the end of lower secondary education to enable young people to make a successful transition to vocational education and training and to participate in society.



The Standing Scientific Commission is an independent scientific advisory body to the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs. It consists of 16 educational researchers from various disciplines. The SWK advises the federal states on the further development of the education system.



Susan Seeber is an appointed member of the SWK, Prof Olaf Köller is co-chair of the SWK and scientific director of the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN). Theresa Schopper is Minister of Education, Youth and Sports in Baden-Württemberg.
