Der SFB 1083 der Philipps Universität Marburg (Structure and Dynamics of
Internal Interfaces) organisiert eine Sommerschule zum Thema
"Semiconductor Interface - Methods and Model Systems".
Die Schule findet in Donostia (San Sebastian, Spanien) statt. - 14.05. - 20.05.2014
- 03.02. and 04.02.2014

Focus is on optimizing scientific presentations. How to present yourself to specific audiences, e.g. if they are not experts in the field, etc.

In the course the participants are given specific support for the development of their own career plans. Appropriate professional fields for natural scientists are presented. The participants pursue the question which competences and personality traits they possess and where they can make best use of them.
In the second part the doctoral students get information how to highlight their individual profile in application, documents and personal presentations in a convincing way. In this part the focus is set on differences between academic research and other areas.
Topic: Electrons and phonons: Interfaces and interactions
The topics to be addressed by the seminar are interaction between electronic and phononic system, influence of interfaces and surfaces on this interaction and the resulting consequences for electrical and thermal transport phenomena.
This series of seminars is dedicated to a specialized public and is restricted to 70 participants among which there are around 15 invited speakers and several contributed speakers, as well as poster presentations. Emphasis is set on giving young investigators at the PhD or PostDoc level the opportunity to participate.
The organizing committee for this seminar is constituted by
-Dr. Gabi Schierning, Leibniz-Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden
-Prof. Kornelius Nielsch, Leibniz-Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden
-Dr. Raphael Hermann, Oak Ridge National Laboratory- Prof. Christian Jooß, University of Göttingen
