The project aims to determine the exact reaction path involved in the polaron-coupled lithiation of model transition metal oxides using in-situ transmission electron microscopy and post-mortem atom probe tomography. It focuses on the interdependence of electron transfer and structural changes in this type of charge-mediated reaction and aims to relate the underlying microscopic mechanisms to the corresponding electrochemical potentials.
