Academic research in Germany is based on norms and principles that have first been formulated in the Memorandum on Good Scientific Practice of the German Research Foundation (1st Edition 1997). As PhD student and member of the scientific community you are committed to these principles, particularly by signing the Agreement of Supervision.
Prominent cases as well as everyday research experience demonstrate that the principles of Good Scientific Practice are easily at risk, be it caused by conscious or unconscious actions. From “sloppy” work, to questionable behavior and clear scientific misconduct, there are many grey zones and pitfalls you may encounter.
Participants will get a fundamental insight into the topic of Good Scientific Practice with emphasis on
- Data handling
- Authorship
- Supervision
The workshop will be held mainly in English, questions and other contributions in German are welcome.
