Details

The curriculum conveys knowledge of structural elements, forms, and transformation processes of Christian Theology in different cultural contexts. It enables students to analyse the transcultural characters of Global Christianities and their interactions with other religions.

The degree program aims to

  • familiarize people, who are ecclesiastically, pedagogically, religiously or interculturally committed in the context of worldwide Christianity, with the knowledge and reflection of German-style Protestant theology, in respect to their own environments and specific experiences,
  • enable women and members of ethnic or sexual minorities, who are unable to receive an adequate theological education in their home countries, to study theology,
  • equip pastors of migrant congregations and educational, journalistic or diaconal workers in church or religion-related institutions with the theological knowledge and skills they need for responsible and context-sensitive educational and/or leadership practice,
  • offer a basis for further academic qualification in the Master programme “Intercultural Theology” or in similar degree programmes,
  • promote the overall intercultural, interreligious and ecumenical opening of Protestant theology.

The bachelor degree in Intercultural Theology qualifies graduates to work in ecumenical and religious institutions, churches, NGOs, media, education, and academia.
