and image database of the Department of Prehistory and Early History

The discipline of Prehistory and Early History, like all archaeological sciences, is an image-based science: students, teachers and researchers use image media of all kinds in seminar papers, lectures and publications.

Accordingly, the Department of Prehistory and Early History has an extensive digital image database, which is accessible online and free of charge. Currently, the ever-growing image collection comprises about 13,000 high-quality records (incl. mainly photographs, drawings, and maps) which are also linked to the relevant metadata (e.g. period classification, geographic location, and source genre) in order to facilitate your image-search.
