The rationale behind our research is presented in joint collaboration with dasGehirn.info in a way that everyone can understand. Unfortunately, this webpage exists only in German language so far. May 2023: More than 150 researchers from all over the world joined at our conference "Mushroom Body Meeting 2023" that took place from May 30 until June 1, 2023, in Göttingen. 30. We are most grateful to all participants for their inspiring talks, posters and discussions.
September 2022: Our long-standing collaboration with Oren Schuldiner's team at the Weizmann-Instiute for Science resulted in a further publication in Open Biology.
June 2022: Clare Hancock's PhD work has been published in the journal Scientific Reports. We are all happy for Clare that she finished her PhD with four publications, and starts a new chapter as a postdoc at UCSF in San Francisco.
From the 25th until the 28th of April we came together for our annual retreat in idyllic Bad Saarow. We are most grateful to two guest speakers, Prof. Dr. Dagmar Timmann-Braun and Prof. Dr. Melanie Mark, who gave great presentations on the structure and function of the cerebellum in comparison with the mushrooom body.
January 2022: A study guided by Dr. Gaia Tavosanis and her team to which we contributed was published in the journal ELife.
December 2021: We are happy that the German Research Council awarded a second funding period for our Research Unit FOR 2705.
February 2021: A podcast on our researcht online! The scientific writers from ResearchPod have spent much effort to explain our research in an easily comprehensible way.
December 2020: Our research highlighted in the science magazine ResearchFeatures! Many thanks to the scientific authors for explaining our resaerch so beautifully!
December 2020: We are happy and excited that Dr. Annekathrin Widmann has been granted funding of her independent resaerch project on the role of insulin signalling in learning and memory formation by the German Research Council (DFG).
June 2020: Our latest article on odor coding and odor learning in Drosophila is published in Neuron. Many thanks to Ahmed A.M. Mohamed and Silke Sachse for writing a nice preview! And many thanks to the anonymous reviewers for constructive and helpful comments.
April 2020: We cordially congratulate our graduate student Büsra Coban-Poppinga to her successful PhD defense and her doctoral title!
February 2020: The research results from our Master and Bachelor students Carmina Carelia Arias Warth Perez and Patrizia Frosch, supervised by Thomas Riemensperger, habe neen published now. The title of the publication is: Stochastic and Arbitrarily Generated Input Patterns to the Mushroom Bodies Can Serve as Conditioned Stimuli in Drosophila.
January 2020: Silke Sachse and her team at the Max-Planck-Institute for Chemical Ecology have published their paper Odor-Induced Multi-Level Inhibitory Maps in Drosophila in eNeuro. In the course of a long-standing collaboration our lab has contributed to it. We are really happy about this publication!
December 2019: André will meet our collaborators and friends at the University of Cologne and will present a talk on our recent research.
November 2019: Annekathrin Widmann and her team uploaded for the first time a prepint at bioRxiv. They discovered that insulin-signalling dgates the formation of a proteinsynthesis-dependent long term memory in Drosophila larvae.
We have submitted a preprint to the server Sneak Peek. We report the visualization of a synaptically distributed memory trace in the Drosophila brain.
July 2019: Our successful collaboration with Prof. Oren Schuldiner's laboratory at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot (Israel) will be continued and funded. We are grateful to the Volkswagen-Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony for their support.

May 2019: Our laboratory organized the retreat of the Research Unit 2705 in Teistungenburg in Eichsfeld. We would like to thank all the participants who made this meeting a great experience with their talks and discussions.
March 2019: Together with Prof. Bertram Gerber from Magdeburg we organize a symposium at the Annual Meeting of the German Neuroscience Society in Göttingen with the topic: "Dissection of a central brain circuit: structure, plasticity and functions of the Drosophila mushroom body". Our guest speakers are Prof. Barbara Webb (University of Edinburgh), Dr. Lisa Scheunemann (ESPCI Paris) and Dr. Yoshinori Aso (HHMI Janelia Research Campus, Ashburn). We are looking forward to exciting talks and discussions.

October 2018: The German Research Council granted funding of the Research Group FOR 2705 "Dissection of a Brain Circuit: Structure, Plasticity and Behavioral Function of the Drosophila Mushroom Body".

August 2018: Oded Mayseless from Oren Schuldiner's lab in Rehovot has published his work on Developmental Coordination during Olfactory Circuit Remodeling in Drosophila in Neuron. We congratulate!
June 2018: Annekathrin Widmann's latest publication is online! Together with Urte Tomasionaite and Prof. Andreas Thum she has developed a method to train Drosophila larvae alomst automatically: The "Maggot-Instructor"! This technique will facilitate the neuronal analysis of learning and memory.
