What is System accreditation?

The term “system accreditation” refers, in short, to a quality management system (QM) in the area of study and teaching. The university therefore has a quality management system and various forms and implementations at the faculty level (decentralized quality management - dQM). Information on quality management at the university can be found on the "Quality Management in Study and Teaching" homepage.

An overview of our faculty's concept

The faculty's annual quality rounds take place on a single day. They are organized and conducted by the Dean of Studies Office. The two-phase system consists first of an anonymous survey on specified key topics. All faculty members (including students) can participate in the survey online. In the second phase, status group representatives discuss the feedback processed by the Dean of Studies Office.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation:
We invite everyone to actively participate in the further development of our degree programs and study conditions.

The results and measures derived from both phases are discussed, decided upon, and then implemented by the faculty committees. This is followed by an evaluation of the quality control cycle. The involvement of external reviewers is assessed by the Dean of Studies Office. In any case, external reviewers are invited to participate in a large-scale quality review at the end of an accreditation cycle.

Clusters und measures at our faculty

Our faculty has decided to divide the degree programs into clusters based on their content. The clusters were designed in such a way that the undergraduate degree programs were combined with their advanced degree programs. For the doctoral programs, a joint cluster was created with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences under the umbrella of the Graduate School of Forestry and Agricultural Sciences (GFA).

In clusters 1 and 2, all criteria for system accreditation were addressed once, thus completing an entire cycle.

The aim of the individual quality rounds (QR) is to identify existing strengths of the degree programs, but also to identify potential for improvement. In this way, measures are derived in the individual QR that are to be implemented over a short, medium, or long-term time horizon. The Dean of Studies Office sees itself in a coordinating role in this process. However, the commitment of all status groups is required for the overall implementation of all measures defined in the course of the QR and agreed upon by the faculty committees.
The individual measures can be very diverse, ranging from demands for improved material resources and the development of existing and new teaching concepts to information and further training measures.

Responsible persons and contact persons

Responsibility for decentralized quality management (dQM) lies with the dean of studies and the dean of studies administrator of the faculty. Cluster 3 is coordinated by the Graduate School of Forestry and Agricultural Sciences. Further contact persons can be found in the dQM description.
