Teaching and Research Focus
Visual Anthropology
Since the late 1980s, Visual Anthropology has been a teaching and research focus of the Institute for Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen. Since then, numerous visual anthropological works have been produced in research projects, BA and MA courses, and summer schools, including over one hundred ethnographic films. The main focus of teaching is the master's program: a three-semester teaching research project in which participants are taught all the basics of ethnographic film work - both in theory and method, but above all, in practice. The tuition-free master's program has long since become synonymous with the entire teaching and research focus: Curriculum Visual Anthropology, in short CVA.
