Christian-Gottlob-Heyne-Preis
The nominees for the "Christian-Gottlob-Heyne-Preis" 2016 are:
"Älterbronzezeitliche Vollgriffschwerter in Dänemark und Schleswig-Holstein. Studien zu Form, Verzierung, Technik und Funktion" In the context of the project "Technische Untersuchungen an älterbronzezeitlichen Vollgriffschwertern in Dänemark und Schleswig-Holstein", funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, swords from the period between approx. 1600 and 1100 B.C. were examined. The focus lay on comparing forms and decorations based on a series of x-ray examinations and metal analyses with the aim to re-examine previous doctrines as well as to acquire new findings regarding innovation, metal working and workshops. Swords used to have several functions at a time, being used as weapons and status symbols, their use seeming to be relatively widespread. |
"Doing School: Ethnographie eines evangelischen Gymnasiums als Beitrag zur empirischen Schulkulturforschung" In "Doing School", Catharina Keßler examines school as a field of practises and shows how different parties in a Protestant Secondary School are involved in (re-)constructing the school. Ethnographic data from the thematic areas space, time, and rituals are used to illustrate how community and communication function as central points of reference and how school members deal with the semantics of the evangelical and the attribution of elite. The study advocates a stronger mutual reception of cultural and sociological perspectives and offers interdisciplinary points of reference for qualitative school research. |
