Summer School 2022: Education for Sustainable Development

25 students of teacher education from the universities of Göttingen, Gent, Tartu and Uppsala participated in our annual BEST Exchange summer school on our Campus in Göttingen.
The topic of the summer school was Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and participants created their own teaching projects for their future students.
Arrival for our guests from Gent, Tartu and Uppsala was on July 2nd and 3rd. Participants got to know each other during a welcome BBQ at Waldweg Campus with organic, regional and mostly vegetarian/vegan food.
The Summer School's main program happened from July 4th until July 8th. There were 5 lectures from university staff as well as 5 workshops by school teachers and other experts, which informed the students about the topic and inspired them for their group work in which they created their own ESD school projects in international teams.
For the days from July 9th onward, there were field trips to a school farm and an environmental education center. Students visited the Nacht des Wissens and traveled to Kassel and Hanover via local transportation. Further, they explored the City and the University Campus in Göttingen during a guided city tour and geocaching. July 14th was the day of departure.
The next BEST Exchange Summer School is scheduled for August 2022 and will focus on the topic of digital competences.
